happy or stressed?

hi everyone. its my first time owning a betta and I was wondering why my fish swims so quickly. I've seen other bettas before and they just sat at the bottom of their tank or moved slowly around mine kind of zips around his tank. Is he stressed?

It would be a lot easier to give you a answer if you posted a focused picture of the tank you're keeping him/her in.

Depends on how often he or she is doing it. Mine all get zippy occasionally. How big is your tank? Are there any other fish? How often & how big are your water changes? How long have you had him or her? Sometimes if water conditions are poor they will do the zipping around thing, IME.

It could be the age of your fish. mine is really young, and I put the filter on full blast to entertain hiM. he likes to ride the filter current or sometimes even swim against it oO I find that the older bettas prefer a calmer life

Is there a way you can post a video? Some are just active, my female betta never quits moving.

He's just ridin' the current.

and he has his slow moments too...

how long have you had him, may be he's just happy to see you.

Erratic swimming though... like brushing up against things, isnt a good sign.

fish that lay at the bottom of the tank often are not healthy. As long as its normal swimming and not darting he's just a happy healthy fish

Feel free to message me any questions, I'll try to help the best I can!

My new rescue always zips around in the back in the same area.

My female as well goes around the tank all the time.

Hey aokashi, thanks for posting that vid. My filter makes currents too and my betta too did exactly the same thing. I was wondering if he likes or something else. Put my mind at ease.
