First import...wrong fish...now what?

I received my first Thai fish today. The mail carrier actually called to make sure I'd be home to sign for him. Even suggested I pick him up in town because of the heat. What a perceptive individual.

He's an Aquabid fish, very small, a juvenile who might have been in the BabyBetta section at Petco. Glad I have some small pellets and frozen foods for him.

AND....he's not the fish I bid on! WTH?!

I can't get comparison pics this early and I know he's not colored-up yet, but it's obvious. I'm not sure how to respond. I can't send him back. He's a nice-looking animal, but I wouldn't have bid on him in preference to the one I wanted...<sheesh>

I suppose I should be happy he arrived alive, even if he is looking a little stunned at the moment. He's still in his cup floating in a heated tank until I can take pictures to send to Aquabid's complaint department (Lotta good that'll do..hah).

I only got him because three domestic breeders from this forum had unrelated misfortunes which delayed my intended purchases indefinitely.

I try not to air my tales of woe on here, but this was just too much. Thanks in advance for your empathy.

Awww, Hal.
This would happen to you, wouldn't it?
Maybe they'll send the other fish over at only shipping costs? I don't know I'd contact the breeder with photos.

I would e-mail the breeder and ask them. Also get those comparison pictures of the fish you bid on and the fish you got. You can also give them bad reviews and what not on aquabid and leave comments. If its truly NOT the fish you bid on you can get your money back. I'm not sure how the process works but it does happen

I'm assuming you paid with paypal? You can open a dispute claiming the item was not as described. Is it possible the transhipper screwed up and not the breeder?

Before you do anything contact the transhipper and the breeder.
They are usually pretty accomodating and will do lots to make it up to you.

Oh no Hal sorry this has happened to you ! I agree I am sure they will work with you till you get the right fish because nobody is going to want that type of feedback. In the mean time enjoy this one, a baby wow I bet its adorable. Maybe later you can post pictures of both the right fish and this one. Maybe you will get to keep it and get the one you bid on too with it being so stressful to ship this one back. Anyway sorry for your problem. hang in there I am sure it will work out in the long run !
