We're getting some cories for our community tank as soon as it is done cycling. :) I want them for the exact same reason! They are just so adorable! If I could snuggle a fish, I would definitely be snuggling those little guys!

All animals deserve respect, not just the cute and pretty ones.
Without "bugs", we would lose about 1/3 of our food, be nose high in decay, and entire ecosystems (including everything that supports the popular animals!) would collapse.

Cories are such sweet fish - I have four...2 of them are 5-6 yrs old, one is 4, and the other 3. Just make sure they have a lot of hiding places, and at least 2 of each type. They also love it when you soak their food tabs in garlic, and it will prevent them from getting some diseases.

And I guess it depends on the personality of the betta...my little Wantai loves his cories and never bites them, while other people say their betta fish are more agressive. Feeding the cory cats at night is a good solution because that's when the betta sleep.

Also, you don't necessarily need sand - we use gravel and they do just fine. If you use gravel just make sure it is smooth so it doesn't give them barbel irritation.

I know when I had a betta in my community tank, he got along fine with the little cory. They gave each other plenty of room and didn't have any problems. Not even with the angelfish and betta together. Those two were hard to take apart. I took the betta out when it was sick and the angelfish was like a lost puppy until I put the betta back in. Just like fresh said, it all depends on the personality of the fishies.

Cute story, Talen!

I plan on having four Venezuelan pygmy cories. They are so little that any less, and you will not see them much. xD

Never heard of Venezuelan pygmy cories before. I'll have to take sometime when I get back from walking the puppy dog to check them out. But I am sure they are as cute as any other cory.

I want to get cherry shrimp but it's less my betta getting in the way and more my tank. I need to have it fully cycled before I can get my shrimpness and MAYBE an ADF :P Already have lists of names for them.

They are also known as dainty cories or salt and pepper cories.

They look like a smaller version of my peppered cory from the pics I seen. I know peppered cories only get to be around 2 inches and from what I've been able to find on the Pygmies is that they get to be about 1 to 1 1/4 inches.
