Argh!

So Voldsom my HM male has decided that tailbiting is a worthwhile hobby and has shredded his beautiful tail. I bought him some ghost shrimp for entertainment but are still in their QT tank. They've been there for about 4 or 5 days. His decorations got changed around on his last cleaning and he has an office mate who he can flare at. He has really done a number on it . Should I put the shrimp in?

The shrimp don't need to be in QT, there isn't really a sickness from them known to transfer to fish. The parasites in their heads is true but the Betta's stomach acids are able to kill them. Go ahead. Who knows if he just bites because of the heaviness? Who knows...?

Awesome! Hopefully the shrimp porvide enough entertainment; and if in fact I dont have to quarantine, I may get some more since they are cheap.

True, but most Bettas prefer to them as prey... I bought 4 of them for Lebron's tank, he ate them all under a week and a half. You should tryout to see if your Betta sees them as food, otherwise... You're wasting money. I hope your Betta stops biting, that's a pain in the butt!

He may be biting because his tail is just plain heavy, that seems to be the number 1 reason for tail biting IME. And be careful with the shrimp, I have yet to find a betta that doesn't eat them!

One hand reaches out and pulls a lost soul from harm. While a thousand more go unspoken for, they say what good have you done? By saving just this one... It's like whispering a prayer in the fury of a storm. And I hear them saying... You'll never change things...

Doesnt he understand that his tail is sooooo pretty when its intact. As far as the shrimp are concerned, I did get them for his entertainment; if he eats them, he gets fasted lol.
