Okay, so hubby and I agreed that he is getting a lizard of some kind. We haven't decided what type/size etc. until we do some more research. However, he had started building a habitat for one, and was so excited..until I did some more research today and realized what he was building would not work. So, being the good wife that I am I started looking at craigslist..and what do I find?? A 50g, (it might be larger, the lady says), aquarium for only $40! Sigh..yeah, I called hubby and told him about the no go on his build, but quickly told him I already found a solution for him...I can't believe what a deal this is, and it's not going to be for fish lol! Sometimes I am too kind for my own good ha ha..no, really, I'm happy I found it for him!
Yeah, it really is..we are picking it up Saturday. This will give hubby a great start. He's been working so much lately that the build would have taken a long time anyway. This way he will be able to have his new friend sooner.
50 gallons would be a great gecko tank. is it a long or a tall? if it's tall that's even better, geckos (and a lot of other lizards) love vertical climbing room.
Yeah, we were originally going to build a tall one...but, the materials we started with were not good. So, I'm hoping he will go for more of a "ground" lizard..we'll see.
holy s*** and your getting the stand! lol i thought my fiance got a good deal on his 55, he paid 120 for his 55 gallon and stand. in store that be like $300 if not more
I still can't believe it either...it belonged to the ladies mother, and I don't think it's ever even had fish in it..her mom just used it with decorations in it! She was funny cause she said it may even be 75g, she's not sure lol! Either way, no matter how we end up using it..it is a steal! She said she just wants it out of the house lol.
here are some care sheets for blue tongued skinks, timor monitors and bearded dragons. as far as personality goes, skinks can be anywhere across the chart from snake-like indifference to puppy dog goofy, timors (if you get them very young) are VERY interactive, tameable and trainable, whereas bearded dragons are more of a bump-on-a-log but in a very companionable way.
