Red stripe on gill covers

Am I the only one who notices dark colored betta's have a red stripe on their gill covers? O.o

Nope you are not the only one :) Mine may have red, lighter blue, or a dark peachy color usually during breeding time.

Breed for the breed, not for the money; the words any REAL breeder would understand.

Cool =D Ares (red and green dragonscale) has a dark peachy color. Charlie (red and light red veil) gets red, and my female baby betta (mud brown with irridescent blue fins) gets light blue. Other than that I only have light colored females and a light colored male :) We notice it more on the darker bettas of course lol
