So Upset! ... Kind of want to give up fish...

I have been having such a string of bad luck with my fish... I seriously almost just want to give up for awhile... I don't know... First I lost 2 girls in the sorority to symptoms of dropsy... then I lost my best breeding pair, the girl from another breeding pair, and 2 rescues when a power strip malfunctioned... and today when I got home after spending a couple days at the boyfriends (They wouldn't let me weather the hurricane by myself so I stayed at his house) I had lost 2 more boys... no idea what from...

And if all that wasn't enough, One of my recent rescues who was looking great a couple of days ago, was looking awful when I got home, so I took off the lid to do a quick water change... I was gone for 2 minutes max and when I got back he wasn't in the tank anymore... I eventually found him on the other side of my bedroom.. in 2 pieces... the cat got him, something which he has never even tried to do before...

I feel like an absolutely awful betta momma... and a complete failure...

One hand reaches out and pulls a lost soul from harm. While a thousand more go unspoken for, they say what good have you done? By saving just this one... It's like whispering a prayer in the fury of a storm. And I hear them saying... You'll never change things...

If you were truly an awful betta mommy you wouldn't care. I am so sorry things have been so tough lately. Speaking for you fish though I think they were much better for having you to take care of them.

you've saved so many marvellous fishies. I think it's always good to take a deep breath and start smaller.

Sounds like me when I lost 7 girls to columnaris. I felt like a failure but I tried again

You tried the best you could, and those fish were probably much happier then they would have been in anyone else's tank. It's great that you cared so much about them!

Don't give up Moon, so many fish depend on you. Your bad luck will be over soon and once again you'll have a house of healthy fish just like before. We all hit bad luck streaks, pushing through them and coming out having learned our lessons is what makes us better fishkeepers.

It's so strange, right now I only have 4 males, I am so used to having at least 10 at a time! Hopefully I will be getting the 10 gallon set up this weekend and I can get things going again!
