not in terms of ammonia nitrites and nitrates anyway :)
water changes will need to be done occasionally to remove dissolved organic solids :D

XD my routine tank cleaning is about once every couple of months :D poop doesnt bother me :D

but dissolved organic solids are stuff dissolved in the water you cant see. usually bumps up the water hardness too...
