Curious...

Hi guys,

A few years ago, I was at Walmart and saw a little male betta sitting on the bottom of a tiny plastic cup. I don't normally buy fish from Walmart, but I couldn't help myself. He looked different from the other betta fish I've seen with his long pectoral fins. I had the little guy for three years before he passed. I don't have much experience keeping betta, but I've been wondering for a while now if they were common. Has anyone ever come across a betta like this?

I've seen VTs like that before.. I asked OFL about it, but I didn't take a picture and she didn't know about it, too.

Over hundreds of bettas die in their small, dirty cups each day. Only you can help them live. Research and then save them, today!

Thanks. I think so. He was fairly active. Although I made a mistake of putting a generic 5 gallon filter in his tank after upgrading him and came back to find him stuck to the intake... Unplugged it and he was fine.

Wow! He looks so delicate! Simply amazing. I'd love one like that. Even his colour is unique! What was his name?

Well, I named him Sapphire (I know, original... xD) because of the blue on him, but after having him for a while, he lost most of the blue and gained some purple.

I would really like to get another one. I hadn't kept a betta in ages though. /:

Yes, I was lurking the Aquabid picture thread. They are really nice. But I'm a poor high school student...

I'm heading off to college after this year and the housing rules are very strict on pets. I think I'll get a betta to make it a bit less lonely.

I've never seen a betta with long pecs like that, it looks really pretty. You should definitely get a betta while you're in college, think of it as a graduation present :D

Yes, he was a handsome boy. ^^ Here's two more picture. I regret not taking more... I really would like to know if more people have gotten fish like this.

Anyone have any suggestions on what type of betta to get, then?
