What's so SPECIAL about HMs??

I mean really, what's so special about them? I'm not going to start hating but really.. They just have a 180* spread, that's it. What's so special?! They're my least favorite tail type besides DTs.. I mean, I even like SDeTs and DeTs compared to them! It even makes the breeder have an easy pass for a 180 spread.. I know about the ruffled edging or long anal fins but that's not the point.. Tell me, please. What's so special about them? They're like pushing the other tail types away... (NOTE: This isn't per se, a rant. I'm just trying to find out how "special" they are)

yeah, I personally like hmpk's and pk's, i had a hm once and i think the breeding done to get that heavy finnage is mean, it's a pain for them to lug around

I found most people have asked me for HMs, because they have wider, fuller fins that make them more "majestic" looking when they swim in the water.

Personally, I am going for HMPK cross to a regular HM and I would like to breed short to medium length fins from the spawn. I love my dragonscale HM... But here is a before and after picture.

I find, though it LOOKS nice, it really isn't what I like. The fins are too fragile, too thin, too LONG. And yet it is what people want. I want to be able to keep the neat looking 180, but shorten it so the fish can still swim without a problem.

NEED before WANT.

Edit: BTW there are no sharp plants for this fella. Not even common hiding spots, to avoid the sharp edges. He has a bell, and some plants.

Yep. That is what happened to halfmoons. The fins are too heavy, and they chew it back. My doubletail is a stress biter, while this fella is a finnage biter. I don't blame him! Poor guy. So, instead I intend to breed HMPKEE Lovelace to a HM female - if I can find one. To allow them to have medium to shorter fins... All culls will go free.

So to people, more fins the better? That's way off for the fish.. I don't like heavily finned fish. Even CTs don't have much. Your male is very pretty Sena, I saw a male on AB like him a few months ago. I still remember that guy to this day.

Thanks, I got a good spawn from him and Janey (DTg). But I am retiring him now, despite the want to breed him again.
