I pronounce it bet-ta. But whenever I get a chance, I call them Siamese Fighting Fish.

Why would I be angry over how people pronounce a word? That's petty and strange.

I have studied language and regional dialects, so it is interesting to me. I was merely stating facts because a question was asked and discussion was happening. Fact is, it does not matter how people pronounce Betta but there is an official pronunciation that does exist. It was the answer to the question.
