Kinda funny story...now

Not specifically a betta related story, but definitely fish related. Last year I saved up for a liquid water test kit for my snail, betta, and goldfish tanks. I tested the water in the goldfish tank that night, did a water change, and went to bed. Early that morning, I woke up feeling TERRIBLE. I was jittery, nauseous, dizzy, and in a cold sweat. I googled my symptoms and the only thing I found that wasn't some obscure disease from the Amazon was chemical poisoning! Turns out I'm very sensitive to the chemical used to test for ammonia. If the tiniest droplet gets on my skin, I get sick. I honestly thought I was going to die! Went to the doctor, he gave me a strong antihistamine and something to help my body process the toxins. It took a few days for me to start feeling better, but I promptly returned that test kit! I can only use strip tests now, which aren't as accurate or reliable, but its a small price to pay to never have to go through that again.

Oh wow, I must say that wasn't very funny! A little scary...I'm glad you okay now and you figured out the problem.

I thought that I was going to laugh, but that made me scared for you! Reminds me of the time that I took penicillin to get rid of something and I went into anaphylactic shock...

LOL, sorry guys! It sounded funnier in my head.

Hadoken kitty - yeah, my brother is allergic to penicillin. Not quite full anaphylactic shock allergic, but it was scary when we figured it out. I'm allergic to sulpha drugs, which rules out quite a few antibiotics. The problem is, my doctors would keep prescribing sulpha antibiotics without us knowing until after I had a reaction, even though its in my chart. So, every time I get exposed to them, my reactions get worse. Last time I almost had to go into the ER. Not fun.

Yikes. I have a sulfa allergy as well. Mine just consists of hives, though.

I'm allergic to many medicines, but they are not as bad as either of yours. I get this red speckled looking rash all over my body, or I have trouble breathing. My little brother and I are allergic to penicillin.

xD I know I shouldn't laugh, being that sick is terrible! But your avatar is what I imagined your reaction to discovering what it was.
