Color help

So when I got my fish from the store last Sunday he was a pale white/grey color. Now that he's settled into his new home his color has really come out. I can't tell what color he is though. He looks blue with a red head and his lower front fins are a little red too. However in different light he will look blue, purple or red. What color am I supposed to call him and why does this happen?

LOL yep that's a Betta. I usually go by the dominant color, whether or not that's the correct way I haven't a clue.

Color change

Not sure if my pictures worked. I'm so sad his tail is damaged and I can't wait for it to get better. The way he changes in the light amazes me.

I'm not sure on his coloring, but he's an elephant ear betta. It looks like the damage on his tail is due to biting. My male bites his tail when he's stressed or scared, or decorations get displaced inside or outside his tank (he really doesn't handle change very well).

I knew he was a Dumbo I am just not sure if he is a halfmoon, delta etc... I asked before people were saying halfmoon or super delta. His tail was like that when I got him :( I got some sun dried bloodworms for protein until I can get some frozen baby brine shrimp. He has come a long way since the day I got him though. Tomorrow it will be a week :)
