Ive seen it done heaps of times with no problems. Personally I dont do it myself but its actually pretty common down here. Most Bettas are kept as community fish so tend to live in huge planted tanks which probably reduces the risks quite a bit.

However I have bought a pair from someone who kept his fish in about a 2 litre dirty bowl, they were still alive, breeding and doing fish things.

Really? He does buy them from petstores? I had a feeling!! Ugh not awesome. They always look cold, and skinny and miserable in the pictures he posts on fb. Poor fish.

He could probably be reported on facebook I would think... but I don't think there's any real proof that he's doing anything wrong.

One hand reaches out and pulls a lost soul from harm. While a thousand more go unspoken for, they say what good have you done? By saving just this one... It's like whispering a prayer in the fury of a storm. And I hear them saying... You'll never change things...

There is no real proof that he is doing anything wrong. Just giving out the wrong information and selling fish for wayy too much money. If people want to pay it for something that's pretty much the same thing they can get at a petstore, then so be it, nothing really to report him for

I'm also not sure if he gets them from a petstore or not, he only ever has like 5 auctions up a day and none of the fish look alike so it's very possible. Plus the fact they are mostly CT and Det makes me wonder...like I said though, no proof and no way of finding out

My boyfriend kept 11 females and 2 male bettas in a 29g for quite a while. They got along perfectly and it was amazing to see the way that they form bonds. One of the males bonded with a female and when the male died (due to SBD), she got depressed and died a few days later.

100g Native Fish Pond, 55g Goldfish/Catfish Community, 50g Plant Pond, 40gB Tetra/Cory Community, 20gHM Community, 20gH Turtle (Bender [RES]), 20gL Turtle (Kif [YBS]), 15g Reef, 5.5g Betta (Okami), 5gFBH Betta (Pron), 5gHex Betta (Twister)

2 dogs, 13 cats, 2 turtles, 1 bearded dragon and 1 crested gecko

Ah I didn't see the rest of this. I've wanted to bid on his auctions but have been very wary about doing so.
