Piccaso (Male CT) HATES any living fish

so i tried to put 3 platies into the tank after floating them for more than 2 hours to get him used to them i finally released them into the tank and he was ok for a few minuites. then he started chasing them. i figured it was normal until he started really trying to go for one of them. really attacking it and trying to kill it. i had to take them out and im now working on a 10g tank for them and a sorority ive been putting off starting. he dosent mind the ghost shrimp or the mystery snails tho.

i guess he gets to keep all 29 gallons to himself

He's probably just defending his territory. You should remove him from the tank, re-arrange everything, and put the other fish in. Then add him back in after a bit. It'll be a "new tank" and he'll stake out new territory instead of defending the entire thing like it's his own. Probably.

You should always add the less aggressive inhabitants first, so that there is less competition for territory.

I blame spelling mistakes on my iPad. You should too!

I'd put the male in the 10, the sorority and platies in the 29.

I don't think it'd be fair to cram the girls into a 10, just so he can have the 29 all to himself. It doesn't give them much room for personal space, which is important with females, because they're still somewhat territorial.

Why is that? SkyWillow's suggestion makes a lot of sense. :) Girls are good swimmers and will utilise the space much more than your boy, and it gives them more space to decrease aggression. Plus, mollies aren't good for a ten gallon long term - relatively large fish with a big bioload. :)

I don't have Mollies just platies, and my male uses the whole of the 29 gallon tank

Mmkay, but a 10 will be overstocked with platies and a sorority.

I've been told before that a 10 gal is more than enough for 7 fish
