...you make plans for your friends to get into fishkeeping because you find it so soothing/enriching/worthwhile, so you send out copies of your favorite book on bettas and drop heavy, unsolicited hints about how much it means to you to be doing this, how it is not really that much work, how loving a fellow living creature betters your life and contributes to deepening your personality and your experience of the world....blah, blah, blah

..........you spend ages looking for good sturdy furniture to hold your tanks, then re arrange a whole room to give them the best place in it & buy better curtains so they won't be annoyed by direct sunlight.

Syriiven just called me out on this one.

You refer to colors as your fish's names.

When you're supposed to be on a girly shopping day, and you end up buying everything for your fish, and nothing for you.

still counts!! (I do that once a month, or when I sell a plush)

You steal the fiance's modelling clay to make betta figurines and chopstick holders.

When you keep calling your mother (or other housemate) upstairs because the betta just did something too cute, awesome, hilarious - oh oh! Look at my plant! It's grown 2 cm since last night - now it's fluorescent pink, oh wow now it's fuchsia! Look! I can see a baby shrimp, I think it's a baby shrimp, I hope it's a baby shrimp.

Oh look mum there's a dragonfly larvae! Now look! The big mama shrimp is grooming her back, that's hilarious! Mum! Red just jumped and bit my finger!

I could go on...

"There will come a time when three words uttered with charity and meekness shall receive a far more blessed reward than three thousand volumes written with disdainful sharpness of wit."
