Do you get sick from your fish?

I've had my betta fish for a little over a month now, and since i've gotten him i've been sick with a cold 3 times in a row...

Would there be any correlation between taking care of my fish and getting sick? Maybe if i don't wash my hands well enough after cleaning his tank? There's been something going around at my college here, but I'm wondering if maybe i'm getting it from my fish. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired

Fish can't get you sick unless they have fish TB or you're allergic to them

Yeah I don't think there is anything but fish TB that is transferable from fish to human.

If your college is anything like my university was, then you are probably picking up colds etc. from your classmates rather than your fish.

I agree with the others, and maybe myco can cause problems, I think, if you stick your hand it while you got a open wound

"MYCOBACTERIUM MARINUM" was what I was talking about

Are you a freshman by chance? I got sick more in my first year of college than in any of the following years. Sometimes its just getting used to new food/environment/people.
On the upside, fish are a nice thing to watch when your'e sick and not able to get out that much. They can keep you company until you get better. :)

My freshman year, pretty much anytime my fingers ended up inside my mouth before washing them, I would get a cold or sore throat. -.-

No, you're just getting what the rest of the country has been going through :/

I got sick with the flu or cold for a little over 3 weeks, which turned into a sinus infection and bad strep. My husband was sick for 2 weeks with the same thing, and after I posted on facebook... many of my friends from all over the country have been complaining about the same thing (save for the strep, I'm very prone to it and had it chronically as a kid)

And now that I've been better for a few weeks, some of my friends and family in other states and on the west coast are jokingly blaiming me for them being ill with the same thing for an extended period of time.

Just bad luck and some really odd weather here that doesn't help I guess.
