Help ID my betta?

I got Mushu from a nearby Petco after decided to nab the healthiest betta I could find. The store treats all of its animals pretty dang good for a chain. All the times I've gone there the tanks and cages have been clean. With that being the case I had quite the selection of decently healthy fish. I saw this guy and automatically fell for him. I could watch his fins shimmer from red to purple to blue and back for longer than I probably should.

Anyway, he was labeled as a Halfmoon, but I know there are more details/specifics to it then that and would like to know what he is. Anyone have a clue.

Colour looks like a multicoloured. He has dragon scaling (thick opaque scales). I cannot tell you if he is a halfmoon or not without a picture of him flaring though. Basically, a halfmoon is a betta whose tail reaches a 180 degree spread in full flare.

yeah, you can't tell unless you can get him to flare, so if you ever do, maybe post some pics up?
Really beautiful betta! Great buy.
Also, if he isn't a halfmoon, he is probably a super delta.

Thanks, I couldn't believe that Petco had a guy like this. I actually got him when I returned another one.

He didn't swim around the middle or top much. Maybe it was just his personal preference, but I wanted an upper tank guy since I have 3 oto cats in there too.

Mush get's along great with the cats, doesn't flare at them or anything.

I'll go see if I can get him to flare. He's in a .5 gallon QT right now since I think he has fin rot. If so, it seems mild so far.

That's also a pretty betta! My bettas never swim around the whole tank when I first introduce them. IT takes them a while, so maybe your betta was just shy? But it's good to hear Mushu gets along well with the kitties!

And okay, post us pics when you can! Maybe try putting a tiny mirror next to him?

Already have a betta mirror and that's what I did. He ignored it for a while and then when he saw it he always flared with his caudal fin on the opposite side of the dorsal from me.

I got one somewhat decent one.

He is beautiful. I love the name (for some strange reason, my sister calls me Mushu too!)
