How much was the total cost for the fish, shipping, transhipper fee, and local shipping?
Which trans shipper did you use and were you satisfied with them?

Did the fish arrive healthy?
how long did it take to arrive?
did the fish look as good as it did on the AB pics?

I always wanted to buy an aquabid fish but it just seems too expensive. Especially because even if they give you your money back in case of DOA, they don't refund shipping costs, and you will only need to pay shipping again for the replacement fish, and then again if DOA occurs again. I am not even a breeder, the fish would just be a pet which is why I wonder if it is even worth it

And finally, was it worth it for you

ETA: I just realized there's a sticky on this that answers allot of my questions, If you would still like to share your experience that would be great.

I made my first AB purchase (from a seller in the US), because I prefer to deal within the USA and because there is no guarantee that fish you ordered is going to be handled correctly and especially for such a long trip. You can get really nice quality fish in the states. Other than that, I've heard mixed results, I'm guessing it's just a stroke of luck as to whether or not it works out well. Good luck!!!

I have bought 3 fish from US breeders on aquabid. all arrived healthy and are doing well, but my dragon male arrived with a red blotch on his head wich wasnt on the list photo not sure if it is an injury but he is happily building a bubble nest. I am watching him though. The female that was shipped with him is fine. Would be happy to post pics but have not figured how to put them in posts yet.

I've imported 3, and bought one domestically.

the first pair cost me almost $60, but $27 of that was US transhipping fees. the girls cost me $15 each, and another $5 each for the Thai transhipper.

They're pets, I adore them, and they are worth it to me.

The 3rd import was actually paid for by Feng, but he cost almost $60 also, $25 transhipper fees (US) $30 for the fish himself, $7 for the Thai transhipper. I paid $5 of his purchase price (buy now over waiting out the auction), and paid $15 to upgrade to express, she forgot and sent him priority anyways, but refunded the extra when I mentioned it. I've always wanted a giant, and he's kind of green, and I want to start a line of greens, so he is worth it to me, even if I don't get to use him as a stud for some reason.

I prefer to use Linda Olson, my first transaction with her as a transhipper went swimmingly (no pun intended), and so I'll most likely stick with her for future transactions.

My Domestic guy came from Louisiana to Michigan, I paid $12 for him, and $16 for shipping. He's a pet, but where I'm located, there's nothing like him, so definitely worth it to me.

I guess my thought is, if you feel that it's really worth it, then it's worth it. If you don't feel that paying so much for shipping, domestic or international, then it's not.
