The dojo loaches would be to big. You could get a school of cories or otos.

Its not only the size of the fish that determines the tank size but 3" is actually pretty good sized. As for tank mates that will depend greatly on the temprament of the Betta, some are OK with tankmates & others not so much. I only put snails with my male Bettas in their 10g or less tanks.

Maybe I won't get one then if they are that picky, I love the looks of the dojos. Think I'd rather have them.

Golden dojo loaches? You get them from the store at 2-3 inches but I've definitely always read an adult size between 6-10 inches. Unless we're thinking of two different kinds of loaches.

Are they these?

This is the only real weather loach I know.

How about kuhli loaches? They have a similar appearance but grow much smaller and would be more suited to live with a betta.

I think it's just a different colour strain of the same fish. As it is coming up on the Wikipedia page of the 'Dojo Loach' with pictures of different coloured individuals.

Due to the fact it says they grow to 12 inches I would not think they are at all suitable for a 10 gallon tank.
