Photo taking techniques?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets soooo frustrated trying to take a picture of my Bettas! My silly fish will never stay still. The only camera I own is on my ipad mini, with no flash. So not only is it clunky to hold in position, but every time I try to snap a picture, my fish zooms off!

(I do own a camera...but I don't know how to use it.... )

I got some new fish that I wanna show off...but they are uncooperative!

So lets share some photography techniques! How do you get your Betta to stay still long enough for a good picture?

What kind of camera do you have? I'm sure I (or someone else) could help you out.

I don't use flash... I just use bright, room light. lol

I just use my phone, (boooooring) and I have to say, some of my pictures are *quite* nice. ^.^ To try to get the betta still, you'll want to take a shot when it goes up for air or it chews it's food. Sometimes I just have those lucky moments.

It's all about luck, light, and timing.

Over hundreds of bettas die in their small, dirty cups each day. Only you can help them live. Research and then save them, today!

I use my DSi camera.

Open your eyes
Now is the time
To rise up
With darkness we'll still shine

You can feed the fish a pellet and that will hold them still for a couple more seconds but my most preferred technique is just to take about 200 pictures lol. Not all of the same fish though, normally I take roughly 10-20 of each fish that I want and get about 2-4 good pictures from that. Patience is really what it's about.

Does the iPad have a "burst" mode? That's where you take like 10 pics in a row really fast.

I think I'd have to download a camera app for that, because the built in one doesn't seem to have any settings except a grid.
