:blueshake: so nervous

my first betta is coming this week... and i'm nervous as hades about it. He's being shipped from Thailand and I'm having horrible stress dreams about everything and anything that could go wrong with the trip! So far, I've dreamt that the Express shipment got lost, left at the wrong apartment, left with the office manager at 5pm on friday (they aren't in the office over the weekend), sat on, stepped on, stolen... you name it I've stressed on it! Is this normal???? My sister and niece think I've gone totally around the bend... and we won't discuss the chihuahua's take on things. (He's convinced I'm a few frijoles short of a burrito already).

I"ve been scouring the forums for all information on how to acclimate my new boy when he gets here.... anything else you guys can tell me? (I refuse to ask my doctor for a tranquilizer because of my fish).

The drip method is probably best for acclimation. The betta will be pretty stressed for a few days after his arrival so it's best to keep him in a dark space that is not commonly occupied while he adjusts!

I would be really worried too... So I can't help you in that department... LOL!
Just think happy thoughts most bettas arrive safely!

3 males: Mardi (OHM) - Mason (HMPKCTEE) - Maddux (HMPK)

Just remember to breathe and take things slow. If in doubt about something, ask on here and I'm sure someone will give you some advice :)

As for acclimating him, I would add about a tablespoon of new water to his container once about every 10 minutes. For probably an hour or two, maybe even three, coming from Thailand and having been through the mail and everything. Don't forget to condition the water too! I almost forgot to do that today!

Post pictures of him when you can after he's settled in :)

Proud fish mom to: Flame - veil tail, Nimbus - veil tail, and NoName - crown tail.
