Stupid question

I know this is probably going to sound stupid but here I go.

What is a King Betta? I saw a few at Petco the other day and I had never seen anything like that before. Can someone tell me about them?

Thanks!

King betta are bettas that are larger then normal but not quite as large as true giants. Many believe they are simply half giants (this is what I think too)... The other main theory is that they are a hybrid between betta splendens and betta raja... Which is simply not possible due to different reproductive habits.

Thank you! :) I wanted to get one but they only had the really dark colors. I like the happy bright colored bettas myself. :) Do they come in lighter colors?

All betta types CAN come in any colour, but it may be more difficult to find king bettas that aren't blue or wild type but I don't know for sure... We don't even have petcos in Canada lol.

:) Thanks for your help. I'll keep looking, maybe they will have one that is more colorful later on.

Most likely; they're one of the newer types to hit pet stores so it'll be a little while before you start to see the type of variety available in the other bettas.
