Just a causal question about Marble-Patterned Bettas
So, I've never really seen my Marble boy (although he's mostly colored up as a Royal or Turquoise Blue now) flare and show his beard. He has flared his gill-covers but I've never seen his beard. At first, I thought:
'Maybe he just needs to get a little older, maybe he isn't fully mature yet."
So, I watch and I wait and one day, I noticed something under his gill-covers... a little black edging. I was curious and did a bit of online-answer hunting. Nothing. So, to figure it out, I had him flare his gill-covers and 'lo behold: I saw his beard. It's transparent and the black edge is a deep blue.
What I'd like to know from other folks who have Marble-Pattern Bettas is what does your male's beard look like? Is it different from the body-pattern/coloration? Is it the same? Does it change when your Betta changes?
I'm curious about how the Marbling affects it.
