Make sure your tank is well-covered. Wilds will jump out of the smallest space and I use cling wrap over all of my wild betta tanks as there is nothing more devastating than finding your fish dead/dying on the floor.
I can't see the picture, but most wilds will readily eat live and frozen foods. Mouthbrooders tend to be more inclined to eat dried foods such as pellets, but some are fussy and so you may have to gradually wean it over.
I would recommend pellets over flakes. Flakes are more for smaller fish and simorum grow quite large if I remember correctly.
