Question Bubble nests rare?

Out of the 14 Bettas i have owned ( that includes the 2 i have now ) i have only had 2 make nests. Are they that rare to see?

Some of mine have never made nests before. When they make nests it just means that they're ready to breed. It's an instinct thing. :P

i have read on a breeding site that bubble nests are also like a personal supply of oxygen for the bettas =]

That's cool! Most of my males that have made nests were in tanks next to my females tanks so I think they were "in the mood".haha

Kilo does and Tango has. Whiskey never has. So I guess in my house that's 66 percent!

16 Gallon-4 Corys, 3 Endler's, 5 Celestial Pearl Danios
10 Gallon: Male King Betta-Kilo
5 Gallon: Male Marble HM-Logan
5 Gallon: Dwarf Puffer-Huey
5 Gallon: Male VT-Tango

All of my boys have made them at one time or another. Fish doesn't so much any more because he's old and past the prime breeding age but all 6 of my other males make them all the time and all of them except 2 have never been near a female.

Lockheed started making a nest yesterday and I think he's still working on it. And he's the only fish in the house so I'm not sure what his inspiration is :)
