As long as he has quality of life then keep hanging on. If it were me and he was really bad off and obviously in pain I would euth him. I always dreaded the day when I would have to do that for Fish but thankfully he did it for me.
Whats wrong with him? You said you only had him a year so maybe he's not actually dieing but just sick. (sorry if you said in the OP.. I didn't remember you mentioning what is wrong).

"Doggyhog" you are an amazing fish keeper and should feel proud that you have done all you could and could have done which many of us try to do:) i wish you good for all your bettas and bettas to come:)
im sorry you have to see him suffer like i had to see mine suffer and pass. it was horrible but this is about you if hes an old betta he will probably pass but maybe a miracle will happen and he will live but i hope you feel better and again im sorry
I'm just sick about this. Jello is dead and I walk over to Colette's little tank and she's dead too. I just can't... I.. I'm lost for words. I have no clue what's going on, and I don't want it to continue whatever is happening.
This is just awful. I've never had two fish die at once. I can't even imagine how I'm going to tell Vikki.
Edit: I think I'm going to take a few days off coming here.. I just need to think. Just wanted to let you all know.
"Whoever said fish were low maintenance obviously never owned fish"
