Unhappy My Johnny's dead. :'(

John, the betta I just started treating for popeye, died. I found him this morning. He isn't playing dead. I turned on this light over my dresser that would freak him out for about 5 seconds. He didn't move. He's upside down too.

I litually started treating popeye yesterday. I cleaned his 1.5 gallon tank out completely. Used epsom salt 1 tsp per gallon so I put in 1 and a half tsp. Used dechlorinater. I even put him beside the new female he likes to help him adjust.

It just wasn't enough. Now, my female is really sad. She keeps swimming like a depressed fish. She will look into John's tank, then swim away slowly. She does swim in her usual pattern, around the top of the tank and around the bottom, just slower, and looking at either John's tank or at the bottom of her own tank.

So, now, John can join the person he is named after. R.I.P., John. I loved you, and always will.

I love my 6 baby creamsicle mollies and swordtail boy Nemo!
My Beloved Bettas -
John Lennon (a.k.a. John or Johnny) - Dark blue, green, and red VT male. R.I.P.
Opal - White, pink, and purple VT female.

Oh and maybe you should name your female thanatos, meaning death in greek. Im sorry it was just a thought, and maybe if its to manly for a girl shorten it to Thana or Thanie and her full name could be Thanatos

Yes, he is swimming up with my other past non-betta fishies. Probably flaring at them since he flared at Bettas and goldfish. Never the female though. They loved each other.

Thank you for the name suggestion. I'll keep it in mind! Thanatos.

and I will try to get a new male. i don't know if I can since I just got this new female 2 days ago.

I will tank epictures of them both. I really enjoy photographing animals, especially fish and bettas.

I don't quite know how my female would like thid other male, or if this other male would like her.

I hope that too beta novice.

And yeah...even when he flared at goldfish. Did he flare at Hollywood, Sterling, and EB?
