My Betta loves current

I can adjust the flow of my filter and I had it at the lowest setting but then I did some re-arranging and now there is part of the driftwood in the path of the flow so I decided to turn it up and when I did my betta swam right up and swims in the stronger current. He will do this for quite a while then retreat to the more stagnent part of the tank, rest and swim right back up. Does anyone else's fish like the current? Is this bad or is it ok since he's doing it on purpose?
