Interesting experiment

Ok so with this spawn I've been having trouble getting my BBS to hatch.

Here's the set up:

2.5 gallon tank half filled
25 watt heater at 93*F
One clear 2 liter bottle
One green 2 liter bottle

Clear bottle:
Hatching within 10 hours :)

Green one:
Weird. They begin hatching but die before or any that do hatch die. Not sure why. Any thoughts would help.

Who am I? Well I am a Junior Member of the International Betta Congress and a breeder of white HMPKs, red dragon HMPKs, black/red dragon HMPKs, metallic multi HMPKs, blue masked HMPKs, and now multi color HMs. Soon to add black HMs. I will be showing in New Breeder class in fall of 2012.

Could the temperature be a little high? This is just a guess since I know nothing about hatching brine shrimp.

No, higher temps equals faster hatching. But if it was wouldn't the batch in the clear container die as well??

That's what I'm thinking...I got new eggs and tried them but the same thing happened. I changed my set up to using two 20 oz water bottles and got even better hatching. BOOYA!!!

I know sea monkeys like natural sunlight, and it helps make them yummy algae and stuff to eat and live! I don't know, though :O

The darker bottles block out light....which is why most beer comes in dark bottles; they block light making it last longer. You need the opposite effect(or affect?).

Lol a vial of BBS eggs is $7 at a fish store, lasts about a year. BBS hatcheries are just easier made from scratch.
