Wink General Questions:

Hay guys!

I have a few questions for ya! (I'm kinda new to the Betta keeping...)

1. I've had my male delta (Casanova) for a while now and was wondering when it was normal for him to build a bubble nest. Theres a female in the tank too (separated, of course). She likes the far side of the tank better, so they only see each other every few hours or so for only a few minutes. My female, Gia is developing vertical lines. lol Anyways, because I think they may be interested in mating, shouldn't he build a bubble nest? I just thought it was strange. (btw, i'm not planning on breeding them. I just think bubble nests are cute )

2. Also, what is the average age for a betta to be sold at a petstore? I got him there, and I just wanted to know how old he was.

3. I've heard stories about bettas jumping the divider when they feel like breeding. That's not true, is it? My divider's high, but there is a small space between the top and divider that I can't fill in. Since Gia's getting vertical lines, I just want to be sure she won't try to jump it.

Thanks!
Peace!
~Alissa

Bubbles nests are normal, and yes cute :)

I'm not aware of an "average" age...

Bettas can and will jump over dividers-I had one jump over 2 1/2 inches once. You can always lower your water level.

Heres another question: what is tank surfing and is it bad? Casanova puts his mouth to the glass and runs up and down it all the time. Is that normal? None of my other fish do it.
