Need Urgent Help! New Betta keeps looking at the ground....

Hello,
My new betta fish keeps looking at the ground for what I believe is food. She want eat the food on the surface and I have to let the get soggy and float to the bottom in order for her to eat.

What is she doing this? Is it normal? Please help!

I had a female who would only eat off the bottom too. She would see at food at the top and refuse to touch it until it began to sink.

Anyway, just a quirk. As long as she's eating, you shouldn't be alarmed.

my fish also did this but only for a few weeks, i found that because he was still small it wasnt able to eat the pellets. bloodworms, and shrimp to get him bigger. thats what worked for me

She said "Honey its your bettas or me, make your choice! I said " Baby your right it is getting kinda cramped in here. Good luck baby.

Ha! My guy is exactly the opposite- will only eat food while it floats, which limits what I can give him. I wish I had your 'problem' then he could eat any time (everything sinks eventually) and he'd be helping with cleaning his bowl too.

I have one girl like that as well; as has been said, so long as she is eating then it doesn't matter. After a few weeks she did start coming to the surface for food.

I like feral also have a male who is the opposite; if it's more than a cm below the water surface he'll just ignore it. Where all my girls will pick the stuff from the bottom. Although if I feed him flakes I need to point out each individual one otherwise he won't eat it (needless to say he doesn't get flakes very often).
