Thumbs up My (possibly, hopefully) great idea!

Background: My school has a Partner's club where we do events and help the mentally challenged or abused. For the holiday season, we are either- I can't remember which- giving gifts to a local group home of abused women or the handicapped.

My idea: Give a pretty/theraputic fish tank! What could be better? And plus, I could come around every week and help out with cleaning and taking care of and such (not to mention volunteer hours!) Now, I don't know whether it would be a community or sorority (or neither) but I would at least get a 14 gallon tank full of didn't kind of tropical fish. I think this would be a great gift because then the people wouldn't get jealous of others people's gifts...

What do you think?

It is a great idea. My pediatric doctor has a huge tropical tank in her practice, kids love it, it gets their mind off the shots soon to come. :P

I would make it a sturdy tank, though, with a secure lid, for everyone's safety. And I don't think you should attempt a sorority in that situation, if something goes wrong you won't find out about it until the next time you visit.

By the way, you have excellent choice in fish names. ;)

I think that would be very nice, especially if you are going to care for it for them as well.

Nice idea! You would be able to make sure the fish are okay, and fish take people's minds off stress!

I agree with FuulieQ. A sorority would need careful monitoring in the first few weeks, and you wouldn't be able to do it if you only came around weekly.

Good idea! I would also stick with a community, easier fish to take care of. And (hopefully) no aggression!! Plus more array of colors, maybe some male guppies and a bunch of tetras?

That's a fantastic idea!!
And if you're up for maintenance I'm sure it'll work c:
+1 for a community tank.

Yup. I think it's a great idea... but are you sure the people there are up to taking care of a fish tank? Even with a community it's a lot of responsibility most people won't enjoy.
