My Betta is much more active lately!

Sequin has been a lot more active lately. He's also been less afraid of me. I don't know why. I don't have a heater for him yet, and his tank is pretty cold. Yet it doesn't seem to bother him. He's been swimming a lot more, and if I put my hand in the tank and make a cup shape, he nearly swims onto it. I don't understand it! He just seems to have blossomed this past week. I think it may be because I've started fasting him, and he just has more energy now. I don't know. He just seems like a whole new fishy. Just wanted to share.

He does. He used to be in a 1 gallon, but now he's in a 3 gallon kritter keeper. Next month I'm getting a heater and dividing a 10 gallon into three parts for my female, male, and the new male I'm getting. I'm so excited!

He sounds happy (=

BTW- Don't divide the 10 gal between Bettas of different genders... I've read that the bettas release hormones and go insane trying to spawn and injure themselves and it almost always ends with a spawn...

Yeah, it is great! I have a babysitting job tomorrow, and I'm going to use some of that money to get the decorations. I won't get enough to get both the tank and the heater, so I'm just going to get the trimmings. I don't want a bare tank. I'm going with natural looking gravel and plants this time. I want to show off my Betta's colors. I'm SO over rainbow gravel. LOL

Oh. Well, I have an idea. What if I set my female's 1 gallon in the tank, in the part divided off for her? That way, she'd have a heated tank, and I wouldn't have to buy another tank for her and another heater. She's super tiny, and I'm really good with water changes. I really don't have the money to invest in a separate setup for her.

I had a three way divided ten gallon with two boys and a girl in the middle and nothing happened, and it was that way for 6-8 months. I've never heard of bettas getting hurt if you keep the water level a little bit low and keep the lid on :P

Really? I suppose I could try it and see. I would obviously take her out at the first sign of trouble. I don't want my fish getting hurt, and I definitely don't have the means to raise a spawn.
