Odd gill on female betta....

Hello all!

My female betta has a fused gill cover (not sure what else to call it). When she displays only one side opens up. It is a bit odd. I am really curious if this is something that will affect her health later on? She was tiny when I got her in October but she has doubled in size now. She eats well and is very active so should I be concerned at all or just be amused at the lop-sided gill flare?

Thanks!
Kristina

Hmm sounds like a birth defect. I don't know the full extent on if its something you should worry about or not If she seems to be acting normal with out it. But hopefully a pic and some other reviewers could help you.
