So, with not having that many fish, you have a lot of space on your fish table, correct? And then it's a shame not to waste all that space when you have it. And then there's a dollar a gallon sale, so a twenty gallon long costs only 20 dollars. (The heater was a tad more than that, but never mind) Naturally, I would have preferred the forty gallon tank, but we only got one of those for a school fish tank. And then, if you have a twenty gallon long, and only one betta who is truly yours, you may as well get some tank mates for her. In the form of five platties. My mom actually agreed to that idea, and we got a tank that day, and platties a little while after. (The No more fish rule never stands up for too long)

Three Weeks later, I have a twenty gallon tank, five platies, and their quarantine has ended. I never have had a bad experience with no quarantining, but I do it anyway. Not risking an ich infestation.

And so Cleo, after being very mad about her teensy-tiny 2.5 gallon, and for one day, a even smaller Kritter Keeper(She was hoping mad about that one!), got shifted into a breeder trap about twenty minutes ago. The point of this was so she could get used to the sight of great big orange fish swimming around, and they would get used to her.

But she wasn't having any of that. "The breeder trap's too small," she insisted while protesting furiously by throwing herself against the plastic with hall her betta strength.(Not at the platties though, but at the filter for some reason) She got her own way, and I had to release her. She made a quiet retreat into the plants, and had a staring contest with the filter. Which was where she wanted to do, after all. She likes her filter, and she missed it for those three weeks. She didn't care about the platties.

Who understands bettas?

Yeah. I'm planning to get one female, wait for the fry, put a few in the breeder net, and hopefully get another female. I already have Ruby, my female ct, in the tank. Which I know is a bad idea, but I was going to move everything around to hopefully avoid any territorial issues.

So, update and all has gone well. Cleo loves feeding time. I give the platties flakes, and Cleo her pellets, so she'll eat her pellets and then come very and eat any flakes she can grab. Greedy little thing... But no aggression on her part. (Touch wood) So far, the male platy has been more aggressive than her, and even ten that was only a little chase away for a second when I first put her in.

But now, I have several empty 2.5 gallons, a couple of spare heaters, three empty ten gallons, and one empty five. And $3.65 in my money box. Bettas aren't that expensive, and I already have the tanks...
