Cold Hawaiian day...

Today it was cool enough for the water to reach the 60s. Neon is used to it being in the high 70s/low 80s, and he has no heater.

So I quickly grabbed a towl and 5 little cloths and wrapped them around his tank. Lol he was excitedly zipping around as I covered everything... I think he'll enjoy the darkness and hopefully it will warm up some. I just left a little uncovered part in the top corner so air can get in, but other than that it is completely covered.

Do ya think his tank will warm up?

That will only work IF the tank was warm to begin with. Bettas dont produce their own heat so that would only help slow down the water from getting any colder if it does get colder. You should fill some water bottles wiith hot water, and float them in the tank until desired temp is reached.

Oh ya I feel so dumb...

But it is the afternoon (here...) and water temp was in the mid-early 70s (60s earlier) And it's cooling down now that it's getting later. It will probably cool down quite a bit more than the current water temp. tonight.

Okay I took your advice Alex09.

I filled a water bottle with scalding water and put it in the tank (It's a 2.5 gallon so it sticks out of the water even though it's kinda weighted) And I'm not going to dump out the water, just let it radiate heat throughout the tank. It's pretty cold right now, so hopefully this will help. Thanks for your suggestion! Neon is laying on the bottle Lol.

Good idea with the water bottle! I'd get a heater asap though.

My room is 80*F in the middle of winter..do I use heaters? YES! It's just a safe back up incase something happens and the temps drop.
