Blue Water?

When I bought my first betta he was in a cup and everything, but the water was blue!!!! Why? Is it hamful?

It's stuff pet stores put in their betta cups to ward off parasites or fungus, I think... they assume it means they have to change their water less often >,>'

Its a disease preventative called methylene blue. I prefer IAL but either way its good for them. Its hard to change all those cups so it keeps them healthy between cleanings.

Who am I? Well I am a Junior Member of the International Betta Congress and a breeder of white HMPKs, red dragon HMPKs, black/red dragon HMPKs, metallic multi HMPKs, blue masked HMPKs, and now multi color HMs. Soon to add black HMs. I will be showing in New Breeder class in fall of 2012.

my pet store doesn't use that blue stuff. shoot, when i first got Hyde, since i picked him out fresh from the box o' bags, the guy asked me if i wanted fresh water in his cup. :d
