Unhappy (Annoyingly) Neurotic betta :c

I've had Macceroni (The whiteish dalmatian) for a few days or so, Since Saturday I think. He's a shy guy, which is fine, and I could tell right off the bat. I like him a lot.
BUT.
URGH!! He is beyonddd neurotic. All he does, all day, literally ALL DAY is glass surf like a maniac :s It makes him breathe hard and stresses him out. Alle used to surf so I put stuff around his tank and got him a bubbler, which worked like a charm. Alle is now the most mellow and social betta Ive ever encountered. I have the bubbler in Maccie's tank as well as a hidey spot and decent planting.
He's not itchy and is in a 1.5 temporary tank, conditioned and around 77-80. His tank, of course, is clean...
Im surprised that he's still doing this craziness and really hope it stops, because if he decides "HEY! Imma surf on this divider!" when hes in the new tank with Alle, he could knock one down :/ (There will be two with some space in between, sealed to the sides)

Do you think he's just neurotic as crap or sick or...? Idk. I love him but urghhhhh its a pain :c

Oh, and here's the tank. The hidey spot is sealed and now facing the other way, towards the plant.
I also have been keeping it pretty dark for him, and he cant see his reflection.
