Smile Neon's welcome

When I come home from school and turn on the tank lights Neon acts like a puppy.

He starts flaring and darting all around the front of his tank so fast he becomes a blur. His mouth will open and close super fast a few times and I think he's trying to bite the glass or something. I don't know if it's me or the light, but he gets excited!

I become worried that he'll hurt himself usually and tap the glass once so he suddenly stops lol. I'd hate for him to stop paying attention and crash into a big piece of slate in his tank lol. How does your Betta great you?

That is so cute!!! The ones I have had for 5 months get really excited when I come into the kitchen and swim over to the feeding hole at the corner of the tank. The rest I have only had for a few days so it varies. Some are still getting used to their environment while others get excited.

19 males all but 1 in 5 gal tanks
1 giant in a 16 bowfront
52 female sorority, 15 raspboras, 6 corydora sterbia and BN pleco in a 72 gallon

Other tanks - 135 gallon african cichlids, 48 breeder SA cichlid, 30 gallon hex goldfish, 30 gallon community fish and shrimp tank, 12 gallon hex growout

2 Chihuahuas, 2 1/2 lab 1/2 weim dogs and 2 cats
1 Husband and 1 3 year old princess

My first betta always got excited when I walked into my room after a long day at school. He was located right by my computer and usually got excited when I turned it onto Youtube when I got home and played some music. I didn't make it severely loud because I know that they don't like loud noises like that.

It could be that when you turn on the light he see's his reflection on the glass and tries to attack it. It sounds like the most logical explanation. It would explain the flaring and darting behavior.

I thought of that, but within a minute he stops. So IDK, might be that, might be greeting and begging for food, or just him reacting to the sudden light. I'll just think of it as my super smart Betta trying to greet me Lol.
