Someone else bought him.... he was my favorite out of the others, but there are still two others who I really like... Lol, I'll ask my mom one more time, and if she says no again, I'll have to stop bugging her and take all this as a no.

LOL I wish I had space. Wait. Maybe...

Nah, I don't want to spend 15 bucks on a fish. As much as I love bettas, I won't spend more than 8 bucks on a fish.

Plus, I'm saving up for a sorority.

Psssh I spend over $50 PER PAIR. Including shipping costs and import fees.

Who am I? Well I am a Junior Member of the International Betta Congress and a breeder of white HMPKs, red dragon HMPKs, black/red dragon HMPKs, metallic multi HMPKs, blue masked HMPKs, and now multi color HMs. Soon to add black HMs. I will be showing in New Breeder class in fall of 2012.

In theory, yes.

I undestand the urge to breed petstore bettas when you have fish you really like, I've been there myself.
When I started learning about breeding and realized all the work/expense involved I didn't want to "experiment" with fish I couldn't predict what their fry would look like.
Half Moon petstore bettas prices aren't that different from a breeder fish. It's best to hold off on buying an impulse fish, get some money for shipping and get a breeder quality betta.
Of course, depending on the breeder and the quality of the fish the price will go up. I just paid $30 for a female, seems like a lot compared to a $3 petstore female but she's from a great line and has fantastic finnage.

So, if you want to line breed or even think you might want to in the furture you have to be selective of the fish you use. If you just want a pet, then you'll be able to find beautiful fish at the stores.

Trust me, if I ever want to breed, I'm willing to spend $50. But just as a pet, heck no.
