Female dances

I was doing a water change on Hero, one of our females, and had to put her near the tank containing one of our males temporarily while I was getting a nice clean Q ready for her with some nice rocks instead of the bare bubble she was in. I noticed something odd...

Our little Hero seems to have the idea that she is really Michael Jackson reborn.

She was flitting about her jar in front of the male, occasionally spinning with her tail pointed toward the surface of the water and every now and again she would "moonwalk" across the bottom of the jar with her lips, keeping her belly in sight of the male while she did so. She also enjoyed swimming in really tight circles between wiggles and tail displays.

I swear if she had hands she'd be grabbing her ovipositor.

She is normally fairly dark for a wild-type, but as she was doing this she could have passed for a melano. Even her fins (which are normally a deep red) were almost black. Once she was on her own again she behaved normally and her fins were red again.

Is this weird, or just some indication that she really wants to spawn?

i would its a sign she is mature enough to breed. When she is placed away from the male she will return to normal.

that'd be cute. none of my females ever danced like that. they either wiggle at me and look up for food, or just shake their little tails at the male and semi-flare.
