I just want to know what you guys think are the chances that a non chain fish store would get 3 yellow dragon female bettas. I also just want to know what you guys think about dragon bettas themselves.
I usually see a few dragons at my petco... Not sure about small business stores though. You can ask- sometimes they'll order them for you. Or you can just get them off of aquabid...
Like I said before they only sell petstore quality male and female veiltails. An example is like how I saw a few red males with red irredesence (if I spelled it right).
I got my dragon at my LPS. Haven't really seen any at Petco or Petsmart.
But mine was only 20. Which is expensive by my LPS's prices. Halfmoons are usually about 14 in comparison.
Mine's orange, not yellow, but similar. c: They usually have quite a few dragons. So definitely just ask for an order. My store even OFFERED to order any fish for me~
Perhaps they had a new person ordering and they did it to see what they were? idk... But I think dragons are awesome! Never seen one at a Petsmart, but my little local aquarium store has a continual flow of mettalic dragons, males only :-( from red/gold, coppery and almost a steel color for $9.99. Saw one as a steel type crowntail that looked really cool, but I didn't have the space...
My guy, still working on his tail
Thank you!
The benefits of getting more comfortable with your LFS and asking if you can dig through their box of surplus bettas that they don't have room to display yet!
I went through like...50 betta to find this guy. LOL. And I definitely didn't expect to come home with a fish.
i may see about ordering some dragons and HMPKs next time i go to the pet store. might talk mom into taking me tomorrow to do so. xD i adore dragons. my Chapy Belle USED To be one. >.>;
I'm not sure if all metalic ones are dragons or not, just the ones my LFS carries are, but dragons can come in many different colors, just search for dragon in www.aquabid.com to see the varieties.
My guy only gets in about 20 at a time so no digging :-( , went there today and he only had 4 left, crowntails and veiltails, the dragons and plakats were gone.
Awww. D: Well at least they get those quality metallics and stuff. There's still a lot of more common ones at my LFS. They sell enough since they're in a big city, so they have a lot. I love going up there. Just wish it wasn't a 30 minute drive. My car has the worst gas mileage right now. :C
I find it strange that it's not possible to get a blue dragon variation thus far.
Especially since the cellophane fins my dragon has are very blue. Though he doesn't count because his body isn't, too.
What I'm wondering is if it's possible to get my male's fins to eventually apply to a blue bodied fish. o: Though I don't think cellophane counts. BUT DARNIT IT'S CLOSE. :c
i think it's harder. since most dragons are red, or have some red in them, the red will take over the blue. x-X i've seen blue dragons, just none with the silver scales.
Most true dragons dont have perfectly white bodies. They have other colors sometimes. But if they do they have very little of any other color. An example would how my female yellow dragon has a light red on her belly yet she is technically a true dragon. Another thing with dragons is that most have a streak that goes from head to tail. Most yellow dragons have a reddish orange streak go down their back.
