Thumbs down Heat problems

Why is it that it's only February and I haven't turned my lights on for over 12 hours and I don't own a heater yet my fish tank got to 85 degrees? I'm worried about the heat, so I put some ice cubes in a ziplock bag and floated it, and I turned on the AC in my room (We are never allowed to do that) And hopefully Neon wont get roasted. If this is the end of winter, what will happen in the summer?

0.0 I hope he cools down. I envy you people with cold weather who don't have to cool down your Bettas tank...

Wow 0.0 broken heater?

But my tank has everything shut off, and has for many hours (I don't own a heater and I turned the light off last night)

Here the buckets where I age my water get to 82 degrees without a heather in them... your fish will be fine. Just watch out for sudden drops in temperature, that's where you benefit from a heater because it'll keep a constant temp.

HAHA!
A heather with auto shut-off will turn off when the temp is hot enough but turn on when the temp drops... keeping a constant temp.
The bag of ice is not a good idea as it will give you pockets of very cold water. You could change some of the water gradually with some treated water that is a few degrees colder but don't overdo it as the water will just heat up again.
If your tank is near a window, move it to a shaded area or close the curtains.
