Talking Please Answer Soon! Sorority question.

I may have asked this before but I can't find the thread...

I plan on getting a 10 Gal. tonight or tomorrow, () and I would like to add females. How many should I add? I was thinking four for a 10 gallon...I don't want to over stock them.

Thanks!

You should really get at least a 20 gallon. That is what OFL told me. And for long term success they should be related. If you get siblings that have never been apart, 5 in a ten gallon would be good. If they are not siblings, an 20+ gallon is the best option.

I'm thinking 4 in a ten gallon, letting them adjust. Trust me, I have everything planned out. I've done my research.

But on a different topic, I have a plant that I gave to Lucky a while back but it tore his fins. So I took it out. If I put it with the females will it tear their fins? (Because they have shorter fins)

It still could tear their fins. But in a ten gallon you really should do at least 5. Any less is too risky. Remember, they may seem fine, but one day someone could decide to kill someone else. In that case, more than 4 is especially good so you have a decent number until you can get a new girl.

I have plastic plants in my sorority tank and never had a problem with it ripping their fins so maybe that plant you have will be okay. I have a total of 5 females that I started with. 2 of them kept being aggressive so I took them out. The other 3 get along just fine. I added more plants last night so I am hoping they will have enough places to hide when I put the 2 back in. Just keep an eye on them

Kay, thanks! I will go on the safe side and not put it in there.

Tonight I may get a tank, but tomorrow I will get the fish & tank for sure.
