Talking Females... sororities....

Hey, I SAID I'd make a sorority, and I will. This was awhile ago... so many probably don't remember this.

The main reason I put Neon in my 10g is so it would cycle. Well, it did! Next I'll probably split an either 10 or 20 gallon tank (20 probably better since he's used to 10 gallons) In two. Then that copper dragon who's coming in a month or two will get the other side. And my current tank will go to the females!

I am absolutely fascinated by female Bettas. They just seem so AMAZING to me! I'll be quarentining them in 2 liter soda bottles for a week... yes, I know, bad to put them in a small tank and for such a short period, but I'll be doing daily 100% water changes and watching their condition VERY carefully. I'll probably add some more hiding places in the tank, introduce them... and then hope for the best. Of course even in quarentine they'll get hiding places. And they'll all be quarentined next to eachother so they get used to seeing eachother and will be more likely not to act out in the sorority.

Also, don't females tend to be smaller then the males?

Sounds good! Can't wait to see your new sorority.

My girls tend to be pretty big, but I'm guessing it's just because they're older girls. There can be a significant size difference though, depending on how old the girls are, what they've been eating, and other things.

If you look only at body size (cut off the giant beautiful fins in your mind), my girls are bigger than my boys. The smaller girl (Mara) is only smaller because she's younger. Beatrice and Mara are HUGE. Mara especially, she's my fatty.

My Bettas:
4 Females: Muriel (VT), Beatrice (VT), Mara (VT) and Asia (VT)
7 Males: Ulmo (HM), Unnamed (DeT), Unnamed (VT), Sigmund (HM), Mizu (HM/SDT?), Jung (CT), and Paiget (??)

Girls have bigger bodies but less finnage, so they appear smaller. PK's have bodies larger than other tail types as well, male or female.

I only have 1 betta left, but he's a cool blue marble!

Cool! :D
Sounds like fun ~
And great for your tank cycling. It takes such a long time (at least it did for me), it's exciting when it is done so you can add fishies.

Oh lol I was confused because they sell tiny females around here ^.^

Bluehaven: Yeah, my tank just wouldn't cycle no matter what with the fishless cycle, nitrites never showed up. And wthin a week of adding Neon it cycled! Kinda wierd, but okay.

They're probably just young.

Asia and Muriel were both very small when I got them. They've both grown since then!
