Surprise fry!

I haven't posted in about a month because school got crazy, but I had to share this because it cracks me up.

I left a week ago for spring break after having bought a microsword from Petco and putting it in QT When I came back tonight, I look at my plants-only QT tank and it is nasty. I decide to clean it up as my bettas are acclimating in my 10 gallon, take off the top, and...fry! I have no idea what kind of fish they are, all I can remember from the tank I got the plant out of is that it had some serpae tetras, bala sharks, rainbow fish, and assorted small tetras. I can only assume they've been feeding off the (plentiful) infusoria that is in the tank. I have no idea what to do with them, so I'm currently researching. Hopefully I can figure out what they are and what they need and want (to be taken to our leader?). It just brightened up my otherwise dreary day, so I thought I'd share!

After further research, I believe they are some sort of tetra, although there were a lot of different tetra species in that tank, so it doesn't say much. I think I might leave them in that tank, clean the water up and try some egg yolk. Luckily, it has lots of plants and is well established, even without a filter, so the readings are coming up pretty sterling. Still, they must be pretty tough little fish to have survived a week fending for themselves.

What a nice thing to come back to!

A lot of fish are stronger than we give them credit for.
