Hello All! First Betta in two years! King Gus!

I'm fairly new to these forums but I've kept several Bettas in the past so finding this site has given me an outlet for a budding obsession. I recently bought and set up a nice two and a half gallon aquarium with filtration and heat for my new King Betta, Gus! He's got so much personality and captivates me whenever I sit down and have fish time lol. When bringing him home my girlfriend held him while I drove and the entire car ride home he tried to attack her bright pink coat. I'm hoping to make a life-long hobby of Betta keeping and maybe breeding as soon as time, money, and experience allow. The picture in my avatar is my little buddy Gus flaring mad that I was taking his picture for the hundredth time!

Welcome! One piece of advice I would give you is to get your King Betta a tank of at least 5 gallons. King Bettas are larger (hence, the name), and need more space than a normal Betta.

Thank you for the advice! I was under the impression that because of his size, (about 2.5 inches) that 2.5 gallons would be more than enough? I want him to be happy though! Thus far he seems very active and explores often! If he does require more room then I will be all means give him the home he deserves! I'm very attached to this fish!

He will probably get much bigger. His tank is fine for now, but as he grows, he will need more room. Just giving you a heads up!

I'll keep a close eye on him as he grows, I will be sure to purchase a new home for him soon and have it set and ready just in case! If he stays runt sized I'll just have an extra place for more Bettas! Thank you for the heads up! Before I bought him I did some research on the different types of Bettas and I was under the impression that I had purchased a Betta that was not going to grow to the possible seven inches. I really do appreciate the feed back and will update accordingly if he turns out to be a Baby Hughie!
