Cool Crowntails... Am I Right???

I have limited experience with crowntails. My first betta was a crowntail but he stayed at my mother's house and I only saw him a handful of times. And the second crowntail I had was sickly for the week I had him.

All my experience is with halfmoons and and veiltails

So Felix is a crowntail I bought a few days ago. And he has been a ball of fire since I picked him up off the shelf.
He flares at his own reflection constantly and he's never not moving. It's a bit refreshing seeing how 5 and Kaiba seem to be lazy hiders. (Five is a halfmoon and Kaiba is a double half moon. Big fins)

Anyone else have a fiesty crowntail?

My boys: Felix, Kaiba, and 5

I have one! His name is Maitake and he's light yellow, almost beige, in colour. He's very curious and sweet and lives in a five gallon bowl. Mai isn't as feisty as other CTs I've had in the past - recently I lost two others, and my red boy was an absolute beast who flared at everything and hated everything, it was quite hilarious - I miss that boy. The other one, Enoki, was a rescue who passed out of the blue one morning. Both are recent losses, but Maitake is my only CT at the moment, and he's camera shy so no pics of him yet :)

Your boys are gourgous! Felix is whiteish orange with a grey face and very tiny compared to Five. But isn't it always like that when you get a new one? You look at your older boys and wonder if they were ever that small??

Omg what a goofball.

Felix hasn't done much since I got him besides flare at his own reflection and explore his tank.

The funny thing about him is when I saw him I said "you are mine and your name is Felix." When I usually take at least the car ride home to name my fish. I named him after a character in a show I watch and since bringing him home he's perfectly fit his name in every way.

Maybe I'm weird for thinking it but he seems to have a big ego about himself, always ready to fight even if it's just himself. He even ate the first thing I offered him which is rare in my experience with new betta.

When I stick my finger in the water and move it towards him he backs away slowly as if he's ready for a fight. He's certainly entertaining.

Sounds so much like my crowntail Mr. Fish, he is a feisty one always looking for a figh. It is certianly entertaining to watch him see his reflection across the tank, flare up real big and zoom over to it. Only to seemingly realize it is himself and go back to his patrol. Back when I had ghost shrimp he would get in their faces and just watch them if they got to close to him when he was on patrol. Then he would slowly back away all like I am watching you shrimpy

Oh wow. I was thinking of getting some ghost shrimp for a while, but then I realised Five is amazing at trying to eat things too big for him and Kaibas tank is too small. It think Felix would try to fight them if I put any in his tank

If I get them again they are going to get their own tank. My bettas never fought them and even ate a few of the weaker ones when they died... But my betta never left enough food for the ghost shrimp. I would try to feed the ghost shrimp on one side of the tank while my betta were eating, nope they just gobbled up theirs faster so they could eat the other food. So I got sinking algae wafers because betta aren't bottom feeders so the shrimp will definitely get those right? Wrong my betta would chase the shrimp away just to eat the bits of wafer I put in and become super bloated. I loved the shrimp and I want to get them again, but definitely in a species only tank

I love both of my crowntails. Though so far their personalities are like night and day (Only have had Lucifer a few days). Haku is laid back and chill, doesn't really flare unless its at a female or his reflection, Lucifer goes around flaring at everything.

I have a crowntail named Skittles and he is by far the most active Betta I have. He is hardly ever still. He is just so adorable that the whole family stops by his tank all the time to see what he is doing. He doesn't flare that much but he is hardly ever still!
When I put a swim through pvc 3 sided opening pipe, he went and checked it out immediately than He swam through it right away. He is also super curious and very interactive. He swims up to greet you the moment you come near his tank. He has such a cute face...He is just an amazing little guy!
