Cool My First Betta Problem

My DeT Betta, Josh, was randomly flaring, and my parents and I couldn't think of the reason! Then it hit me! The black paper we used as an aquarium background allowed Josh to see himself! I removed it and he immediatly calmed down. My dad said I was really good at diagnosing problems and thats what I need to be a physician. Tell your stories about times you solved a problem with your bettas.

I'm trying to stop my loony fish from flaring now. I am not sure what to do. I have all the lights in that room off so he can finally rest! Good job figuring it out!

Check backgrounds, water params, tank decor, tank mates, objects outside the tank, if he reacts to you or anyrhing. Just keep looking!

OMG! He's doing it again! Poop! There's nothing wrong with him, he only does it when the tank lights are on! So I don't know what to do...

if it's dark outside his tank, he may still be seeing his reflection, kind of a 2 way mirror type effect

Thanks! Is there any way to stop it? Other than turning on lights outside the tank.

Oh, put a piece of paper where he's flaring, and he should stop... that's what I always do.

My boy Humphrey was flaring at the sucky part of the filter, and so I had to cover it up with sponge, which made him stop.

Bettas are not the smartest of creatures. lol <3
